Behind the Mirrors the Psychology of Disintegration at Washington Illustrated Clinton W Gilbert 9781533376435 Books
Illuminating subject about how Washington works. It seems to be that the government must run the way it does because of the politics of the two party system. Sections of the book become boring, but it is worth the effort to read. I think the conclusion of the "paper" is that Washington is forced by circumstance to make desicions as it does because of politics and party survival; however in reality, it is because of a lack of courage on the part of the politians. It seems to me that the only politicians with any courage, always take the country toward loss of liberty. Of course, there are a few exceptions to this observation. We need to be better citizen Americans, remaining steadfast in our liberty with liberty as our goal in all political decisions. As Benjamin Franklin said, "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." Does the patriot act come to mind when you read that quote? This book does not discuss what should or should not take place, but simply how decisions occur and the forces which cause this phenomenon. Some of the examples are rather humorous; e.g., daylight saving time decision by Harding. Since we can't change "God's time" (except during a war), let's change the time people go to work and leave the clocks alone.Product details
